We wrote that in order to increase the birth rate, condoms and other contraceptives in Russia are to be sold only with passports and not to everyone. Such measures are planned to be introduced around the beginning of next year. At the same time, new ideas about restrictions have emerged.

"It's clear that we're going to go to different lengths in the fight to increase the birth rate. Plans to sell prescription-only birth control pills have already been officially announced. A decision on this issue is forthcoming. We are also in the process of switching to passport-only sales of condoms and other contraceptives. Moreover, we will seriously limit the sale of these products. Most likely, one person with a passport will be able to buy no more than four condoms and one or two birth control pills per month. We are currently working on other contraceptives," a source in the Kremlin, who is in charge of raising the birth rate, told us.

Another interlocutor responsible for this issue is frustrated that the population is "not responding well to our calls to increase the birth rate."

"That is why we have to take tough measures and restrictions. The birth rate will still have to be increased, it is a pity that we cannot do without coercion," our source said.

He added that there is also active work on a tax on childlessness. It is no coincidence that MP Andrei Gurulev suggested introducing it again - in the form of a "tax on a decent old age". We will talk more about this later.
