Vladimir Putin's words that he does not rule out that Russia will take Sumy from Ukraine are a signal for the rapid mobilization of at least 300,000 people. This is how our source close to Valeriy Gerasimov commented on the president's statement.

"Valery Vasilyevich is very happy. It seems that Vladimir Vladimirovich has defeated all opponents of mobilization, and it will soon begin. In order to take Sumy and not to lose anything on other parts of the front, we need, according to preliminary estimates, to replenish the army by at least 300,000 people quite quickly. I am glad that the President has given the go-ahead for such actions," the channel's interlocutor said.

He doesn't know when exactly and in what form mobilization will begin. "We need it as soon as possible. Whether they announce mobilization for the whole country or just quickly replenish the army, it is all the same. We are military men, and the result is important to us, not the process," an associate of the head of the General Staff explained.

Kremlin sources have so far declined to give us comment on whether Putin might soon announce a new mobilization or extend the process that began in 2022.

"The president is constantly in touch with the military, the best possible decision will be made," one of the interlocutors in the AP said
